2018 Winter Camp
APPLICATIONS TO OUR 2018 WINTER CAMP ARE NOW CLOSED
Ever wanted to learn an instrument, form a band and write a song? At Girls Rock! Canberra, you’ll form a band, learn an instrument (bass, guitar, vocals, drums or electronic music), watch live music performances, participate in creative workshops (like making zines and screen printing band t-shirts) and write an original song to be performed at the end of the week.
Girls Rock! Canberra’s program is open to girls, trans and non-binary youth ages 10-17. No music experience necessary!
When: Monday 16 July – Friday 20 July, 9am-5pm, with a showcase on Saturday 21 July, 1-3pm
Where: Ainslie Arts Centre, 30 Elouera St, Braddon ACT
Cost: $500 for the week – includes instrument use, all workshops materials and daily morning and afternoon tea. Financial aid is available on a needs basis.
What to bring: GR!C will provide all musical instruments and workshop materials, as well as daily morning and afternoon tea. Campers will need to bring a packed lunch and water bottle.
NOTE: Camper participation in the Saturday showcase is a mandatory part of attendance. As campers will depend on their bandmates to be there at rehearsals, please make sure the camper will be able to attend the whole week of camp.
This year, thanks to our generous supporters Capital Giving, we are able to offer three full scholarships to participants from rural or regional areas outside of Canberra, including accommodation and travel support. More info can be found here.
If you have participated before in Girls Rock! Canberra as a camper and are between the ages of 16 to 18 years old, consider applying for our Intern program.
**CAMPER APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED – NOW DUE FRIDAY 15 JUNE. Camper placements will be confirmed by Monday 18 June**
